My headphone jack went out on my laptop within the first year of my warranty, so had to bring it in to our friends at the Geek Squad. I am always hesitant to bring my computer problems in there to see the geeks, because my service shall we say has continually been sub par. Always a long line to wait in, never a phone call answered because they are too busy at the desk to pick up, so you get transferred to the main line to leave a message, and they never return your call. They are clearly understaffed, insufficient and incapable of running an organized staff!
So I dubiously walk my laptop into the geek squad to wait in the long line. Give them my computer, a pretty easy fix as it is still under warranty, and they only have to change the headphone jack. Easy enough at the drop off right? They tell me it will take 2 - 3 weeks because they have to send it in. So at 3 weeks, I hear nothing, and decide to give them a call. Of course, they are too busy to answer the phone, so I get to leave a message with the main receptionist girl and she assures me someone will be giving me a call back. I hear nothing. A couple more weeks go by with phone calls and still hear nothing about my computer being in. I finally called again this week, which would put me out almost 5 weeks! I again was told they could not pick up the phone, and could she take a message. I told her NO, I have done that several times, and never hear back. My computer was suppose to be done within 2-3 weeks, and we are at 5. I am not going to leave another message. I demanded to talk to someone right away. Well...I get transferred right to a geek...and what do you know? my computer is in AND it has been in since Jan 13, which was 3 weeks prior to this call date! He has no idea why it has been sitting there for 3 weeks, and why I never got called. Even after all my call attempts. So fine, I go pick up my computer and wait in the long line again, (while I watch two of them talk it up with another geek who apparently has the day off) and thankfully didn't have to pay a dime because it was under warranty. So heres the good part....the next day I receive a call from the Geek Squad (a recorded message) telling my that my computer is ready for pick up anytime, and please come in!
My initial thought was go in and see what they do when I try and pick up my computer and it's not there....because I already have it. But, not worth my time, too much has been wasted already with the Geeks!
My advice...find a local service that actually has experts and competence.
